Lacy Fans Shawl

Sticthes
Ch- Chain
Sc- Sincgle Crochet
Dc- Double Crochet
Tr- Treble/triple crochet
Sl st- Slip sticth

Materials: Mohlon Yarn 7 skeins; Size I/9 mm crochet hook (the yarn no longer exists, the pattern is also out of print as it was printed in1973. but I'm sure any worsted or lightweight yarn that is similar to the suggested yarn would work. Lemme know what your results are ^_^)

Gauge: Each Shell fan, 1 row tr +1 row dc = 2-2 1/2 " wide
Note: Throughout Garment, when making a Tr, pull up sticth to 1 -1/2' high.

Row 1: ch 3, work 3 dc in 1st ch from hook, chain 6 turn.
Row 2: 9 tr (remember to pull up sticthes to 1- 1/2" high) in space between 1st and 2nd dc of previous row, tr in top of starting chain of previous row (the ch 6 at start of this row counts as a tr throughout, so now you have 11 tr) ch 3 and turn
Row 3: dc in each st across row; ch 6 and turn
Row 4: 10 tr in base of ch 6, skip 4 stsm dc in next st, skip 4 sts 11 tr in space of turning chain of previous row(increase is made) ch 3 and turn
Row 5: repeat row 3
Row 6: 10 tr in base if ch 6 skip 4 sts dc in next st, skip 5 sts dc in next st, skip 4 sts dc in next st 11 tr in space of turning ch of previous row, ch 3 and turn
Row 7: repeat row 3
Row 8: 10 tr in base of ch, skip 4 sts dc in next st, skip 5 sts, 11 tr in next st, skip 5 sts, 11 tr in next st, skip 5 sts dc in next st, skip 4 sts 11 tr in turning space of previous row.
Row 9: repeat row 3. Continue to work in this manner, inreasing 1 shell at the end of every row until you have 20 shells in a row. Work two rows of dc, don't break yarn

Edging: working along shaped edges of shawl only.
Row 1: *chain 5, sc in bottom of 1st row of dc, ch 5, sc in center of tr. repeat from * around ending with a ch 5, sc in top of next row
Row 2: *sc in each ch 5 space of previous row, repeat from * around end with a sc in turning ch, ch 3 turn. Repeat row 2 twice more working ch 7 instead of ch 6 between each sc. Fasten off.
Fringe: make tassels of 12 strands of yarn cut 14" long tie a tassel in each ch 7 space around shawl.
