A tick box is an empty square that could have an X or a tick sign in it. A tick sign is what you might see on a child's schoolwork when it has been approved by a teacher.

Thank you for sharing GramaKate. Those are beautiful; it was a nice personal touch to add birthstone colours.

Today the order of items in my advanced reply section appears to have changed. I can see a picture sign has been added (not a paper clip for me, perhaps as I am using my android phone) so if I can figure it out I will add the photos.

This is the angel before I starched it:

This is the angel after sugar starching, half dry:

And this is the original angel I am trying to emulate:

Those pictures are probably not very clear. If you have any tips on photographing items please let me know.

Great job on the crocheted angel and the starching. I have used something that I got at Pat Catans' called a stiffener and I could either saturate the item or use a paint brush. I made quite a few little bells some years ago, and the neighbor kids even helped me do that while putting them onto the little clear caps over a sports bottle mouthpiece cover. They were about a half inch across and about 3/4'' high. Oh, the fun we had that summer at the picnic table. Those 'little' kids are now in their early and mid twenties.
