Hello from Tennessee.
I'm looking for an afghan pattern that won't be too difficult and won't take very long to make. Hope that's not to much to ask for! I want to make it for my husband before Christmas. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. I love Chevron stripes. Can someone tell me if that would be too hard for a sort of beginner? Thank you!

Welcome to the crochet message boards! When I first began crocheting, I started out with the ripple afghan. Here are a few suggestions which should be pretty easy:

Welcome Ginnyanne. Here is a link to a very simple ripple afghan pattern. I like it for "sort of" beginners, because it does not involve decreasing stitches, which can be confusing for beginners. Take a look and see what you think:
