    Stitch Help!!

    Hi Ladies,

I'm working on a cocoon for our niece's baby and getting close to being done (with just a few blips!). But I am so stuck now and really need help. I can't find anything on the web or in my books.

How do you do a slip stitch from back to front around first double crochet? (the cocoon is in the round)

How do you do a back post decrease?

    All help deeply appreciated!

    Donna

Here's the reply from Linda Perlmann:

For the sl st, I would try just inserting your hook from the back to the front around the dc, then make a slip stitch (just what it says). For a BP decrease, make each of the BP stitches but OMIT the last yarn over (ie, leave 2 lps on hook after first portion of the decrease, then launch into your next BP dc), then when you have 3 lps left on hook, yarn over and pull through all three loops. Basically it is the same as a dc2tog, only you are working around the backs of the posts of the stitches instead of in the top (like a normal dc).
