    Christmas Ornaments

    Hi All
I was browsing thru a magazine last knit and came upon patterns for knitted Christmas Tree Decorations. Does anyone crochet or knit tree decorations I have never thought about doing it. New idea for me.

    Misty,

Hello! I always loved receiving snowflakes from my grandmother each year! If I am able to find them, as I have not gotten my decorations out yet, I will take some pictures. Personally, I have not created any myself, yet!

I have indeed made decorations for the tree years ago, when I was still at school...so about 15 years ago or a little more. I remember making a miniature Christmas tree, a stocking and a few more which I can't remember much about...

It sound like a really neat thing to crochet. They are small and would use up all the scrap yarn. Have to remember for next year. Misty

I have made snowflakes the past two years and given them as gifts in garlands and singles for decorating.

Thats a great idea, You must have made them from thread? I remember seeing some snowflakes before and they were starched. Do you starch yours? Misty

    Hi Misty,
I made some with thread and some with yarn. The garlands I made with yarn-14 flakes to a garland. For some I used spray starch (a lot of starch) and steam ironed them. This year I used a solution of a tablespoon of water and about 1/2 tsp. of Elmer's glue (or however much glue you like to obtain the stiffness you would likea)and painted it on. I then stretched and pinned them to saran wrap stretched over cardboard sprinkled them with clear glitter and let them dry.

I just saw a pattern for a crocheted Christmas tree.
I have made ornaments - tiny stockings knitted and crocheted.
