Post Hi, I am a new member :)

I am in need of help.. I am finishing a project and I am worried a simple slipstitch wont work. The project is a bedspread for a son's king sized bed so you can emagine how humungous this is.

His mother passed away before she could attach the two pieces together. The two pieces will meet in the center of the bed going length wise, but all sides have a shell stitch border that can not be undone therefore my delema is this:

How can I attach these two shell stitched together as not to make a mess out of this? (bulges, big holes, etc.)

Thanks for any advice that can be given
