    There are also several projects where you can "adopt" a soldier who is away from home on active duty and send them packages to keep their spirits up. There was an appeal recently in the UK to provide knitted or crocheted balaclavas for soldiers to wear under their helmets in the winter in places like Afghanistan and for ordinary scarves and gloves in camouflage colours too.

    My son went to Iraq twice when he was in the marines, so I know the soldiers appreciate it when they are remembered. Thanks for posting this.

    Very inspiring links, and very relevant info. Parallel to what drice1976 said, what we're doing is not just a hobby but something which can be a source of encouragement for soldiers.
