This is the pattern I used; free crochet childrens patterns
I jst changed the colors! The stitch on the bottom is just slip stiches in each stitch!

When I saw the picture that you posted of your granddaughter's dress I fell in love with it. It is so pretty. If I had a child to make it for, I probably would make one too.
Actually I was thinking that I might be able to adapt the stitch (skirt) as a fill-in (with Crochet thread) for a split in a skirt.
I am working on the stitch given for Zigzag shells Baby Afghan, and because the skirt is black the crochet thread is also black. It's a pretty pattern. I will post the results when I get it done. I hope that it turns out as good as I envision it.
