Hi! I am an avid crocheter since i was 9 yrs old. (56 now). Love to crochet and knit and wanted to join this group to help newbies learn and to learn more advanced patterns, ideas. Just crocheted a small dog sweater and hat for a friends small dog, made 2 christmas angels, I thrummed 2 wool hats knitted for my daughter and friend. (that was fun, never did that before) keeps heads toasty warm in the frigid weather up here in the white mtns of NH. Just taking a break from all the knit and crochet for now. I'm plum tuckered out for trying to get stuff done for christmas gifts. I hope you all are having a wonderful holiday. talk to you all soon.

Thank you very much. I need help. I'm trying to make a mermaid tail blanket for my 10 year old granddaughter. She weighs 70lbs and measures 24" at her waist. Every pattern says start with 153 stitches and a j crochet hook. It seems to be tremendous. Does anyone know if this is correct or how many chain stitches I would start with?
