new to crocheting

My name is Christina. I'm new to crocheting. I know how to do the chain stitch but am still trying to learn the single crochet. I am also trying to find the right yarn that will make it easier to see to see my stitches as I'm still learning.

Hi Christina,
Welcome to ct. It would be easier to see if you have a brighter color and then if you need to see where to put your hook.
Example: have the chains in yellow and the first row in purple and the next row in pink or just have yellow and purple or yellow and pink, whatever colors you want to have just so you can see where the next stitch is.
