Throws vs. afghans vs. blankets, etc

    Hi to all,

I've been picking out lots of patterns of aghans, blankets and throws, but I'm getting confused. How does one know which is which? It looks like they are made out of the same kinds of yarn, are basically the same size and can be tightly or loosely crocheted. I'd sure appreciate some definitions. Thanks.

I really don't think there are specific definitions for each. Most are regional terms.

To me, a 'throw' is something you throw over a chair or the back of a settee.

An Afghan is something you curl up in while watching the television.

A blanket is something that I put on the bed.

Thanks Crochetgal. The regional thing may be the answer. I'm from KS originally and we do see cultural differences between there and here in New England. It's not a huge thing, but I was getting more and more curious. Good evening.
