Hey, everyone. I am Connie from Alabama. Just joined and wanted to say hi. My mother crocheted for years and wanted me to learn when I was young. I couldn't stand it. I told her, "I'm not doing that!" She moved in with us when she was in her 80's and she said to me, "I need to teach you to crochet." So.....I tried it. She later said, "I have created a monster." I am so glad she taught me. I am not the best by a long shot, but with the help from forums like this, it's really helpful and Happy Memorial Day to everyone.

Welcome to the group, I bet your Mother enjoyed teaching you. Glad you learnt I really enjoy crocheting but don't crochet much since I am sole caregiver for my bedridden husband. But hoprfully I can find more time. Don't have time to get in here either but come in when I can.

Hi Connie, a neighbor friend of ours taught me and my twin sister to crochet when we were about 13 yrs old she taught us to crochet edges on handkerchiefs We still have a couple! We would help her with things, like I would color and cut her hair and Laurs would curl it for her in exchange she would give us yarn and hooks. I think everyone we knew got handkerchiefs for Christmas that year. We were so proud of them! I have crocheted off and on since then taking yrs off at times. I really enjoy it and crochet quite a bit now. Welcome to our group and don't be shy everyone here is able and eager to help. Hugs Winnie
