    Curious

So I've been scouring the internet and seeing lots of crochet designs that people do themselves. How do they do this? How do they crochet a solid piece that has words? I can't seem to find anything that explains it well.

Ex. Saw a yellow piece that had the words crocheted in that says a phrase.

I think it would be neat to design a custom blanket with a name crocheted in.

Here is a very detailed tutorial on doing this.

There is also a method where you finish your crocheted blanket, using a stitch that is pretty tight, like single or half-double crochet. Then you go back and make your letters on the blanket using a slip stitch, kind of like embroidering the blanket.

If I were doing this, I would probably only do a very short name, lol!

You are so welcome. The things on the blog I linked to are just amazing, aren't they? That gal really does lovely work. I really admire work like that, but I am at the stage in my life where I enjoy more simple crochet that I don't have to think so hard about.

That goes for my cooking nowadays too. I want my recipes to look like I went to a lot of trouble, and taste good, but not really be too complicated.

Lol, I'm not much of a cooker. But I do love that bloggers designs. Especially the baby initial blankets.

You might possibly want to consider filet crochet for the letters/words. It would require a little planning/graphing, but it does work.
